An exciting permanent part-time opportunity exists for a confident and experienced Workforce Development Coordinator to manage and co-ordinate the ongoing, long-term advancement of clinical and non-clinical skills for our staff in the Wellington region.

In order to ensure the excellent delivery of healthcare services you will be required to develop, lead, facilitate and evaluate education and training programmes for the staff of St John of God Karori and our Community Home in Upper Hutt.

  • A nursing qualification with NZ registration

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence using technology and learning systems
  • A proactive, organised approach and comfort working independently
  • Cultural competence and an understanding of Enabling Good Lives (EGL) principle 

About the Role

This role is ideal for a registered nurse who enjoys supporting others to learn and grow and is looking for a meaningful role that offers flexibility. Reporting to a supportive Quality Manager and working closely with the Clinical Management Team, you’ll use your clinical knowledge to strengthen staff capability and confidence across the service.

You’ll have the opportunity to focus on education and development without the pressures of shift work, while still staying connected to clinical practice and quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities of the role include: 
•    Oversight of the induction and orientation programme for all staff in the region
•    Ensuring accurate records are held of all internal and external training
•    Facilitation of ongoing training programmes
•    As required, consultation and the provision of training for the management team
•    Working in partnership with the Workforce Development Team in our Christchurch service
•    Assisting with the implementation of, our newly launched internal Learning Management System.

This is an on-site role based at St John of God Karori working16 hours per week
. We offer significant flexibility in how these hours are worked, making this role well suited to someone balancing family commitments or other professional interests.

About You

You’re a registered nurse who is passionate about education, mentoring and supporting others to succeed. You may be transitioning away from frontline clinical work or looking for a role that allows you to share your knowledge while maintaining work–life balance. 

It would be an advantage if you also have:

  • Careerforce Workplace Assessor status (or willingness to train — support provided)
  • Experience delivering education or presentations, particularly in healthcare settings
  • Experience developing and delivering formal or informal training
  • An additional tertiary qualification such as adult education
