We provide residential care and support services to Tāngata Whaikaha or people living with physical and neurological disability.

Job Description

Two of our Community Homes have several shifts available, and we are offering permanent full-time or part-time positions, depending on your requirements and your suitability for the role. You will be supporting people under the age of 65 who have physical and/or neurological disabilities who require clinical and personal support to assist them to live within their community.  By assisting with household tasks such as general housework, laundry and meal preparation you will be cental to facilitating an enriching and fulfilling life

About the Role

In this role you will be:

  • Working with and supporting tāngata whaikaha within a home like environment.
  • Providing support in alignment with tāngata needs to achieve their goals of everyday living.
  • Assisting tāngata to achieve activities of everyday living with hands on help and cares as required.
  • Supporting and implementing care/support plans.
  • Managing and administering medication.
  • Monitoring levels of wellbeing and ensuring that any concerns/incidents or accidents are reported and documented accurately.
  • Supporting tāngata to engage in activities, building community connections with them.
  • Assisting with meal preparation, cooking, housework, and house related tasks.

About You

In this role you will:  

  •  Have the ability to develop rapport and maintain positive working relationships with tāngata whaikaha and colleagues.
  •  Be a skilled Support Worker who can support tāngata whaikaha in a culturally safe manner.
  •  Have a compassionate and caring nature with therapeutic communication skills including calming/de-escalation skills.
  • Have a strong work ethic.
  • Have a National Certificate in Health & Wellbeing (level 4) or equivalent.
  • ICT skills to use software including One Chart and eCase.
  • Have a full driver's licence.
  • Existing Work Visa with 2 New Zealand work referees
  • Current First Aid Qualification
  • Caregiving experience (2+ years) preferably
  • Existing Work Visa with 2 New Zealand work referees
  • Current First Aid Qualification
